Model-actor Poonam Pandey has passed away at the age of 32, succumbing to cervical cancer. The news was shared by her team on her official Instagram account, stating that Poonam breathed her last on Thursday night at her family home in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh.

“This morning is a tough one for us. Deeply saddened to inform you that we have lost our beloved Poonam to cervical cancer,” her team expressed in a post on Pandey’s Instagram. They added, “Every living form that ever came in contact with her was met with pure love and kindness.”

Pandey, known for her bold persona, gained internet fame over a decade ago when she declared that she would strip if India won the 2011 Cricket World Cup final match. Her last Instagram post, four days ago, featured a clip of her at an event in Goa, flanked by security guards.

The social media personality also made headlines for her participation in the reality TV show, “Lock Upp,” hosted by actor Kangana Ranaut. Pandey, who briefly tied the knot with filmmaker Sam Bombay in 2020, accused him of domestic violence shortly after their wedding.

Notably, Poonam Pandey’s untimely demise follows Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s announcement in Budget 2024, highlighting the government’s initiative to promote cervical cancer vaccination among girls aged 9 to 14. The vaccination program aims to administer the HPV (Human Papilloma Virus) vaccine designed to provide protection against specific strains of cervical cancer.

Poonam Pandey made her Bollywood debut with the 2013 film ‘Nasha’ and continued to captivate audiences with her vibrant presence on social media platforms. Beyond her entertainment career, she was also recognized for her philanthropic endeavors. The news of her passing is a significant loss to the entertainment industry and her fans alike.
